The History of Minco Technology Labs, Inc.

Minco Technology Labs, Inc. founded in California in 1981, is the leading semiconductor processor, assembler and tester serving the medical, military, space and commercial industries. The Company was founded by Elizabeth "Liz" Coker, Don Potter and Rebecca Shackelford. In 1982, Minco relocated to Austin, Texas after surveying 18 cities and determining that Austin offered the best opportunities for a fledgling company. Ten team members moved into 8,000 square feet of a 32,000 square foot building Minco has subsequently purchased and currently occupies. At the end of 1988, Minco Technology Labs, Inc. spunoff its custom packaging division to form Austin Semiconductor, Inc. (ASI).

Minco has subsequently reestablished its custom packaging division with additional emphasis in standard part packaging, known good die processing, and other high-reliability applications. Minco was recently designated as an assembler for the Lockheed Monitored Line.

Minco University, a partnership formed in 1996 between the Company and Austin Community College, offers on-site education to the Company's team members at no cost to the students. Adult basic education, college preparatory, computer, computer programming and other courses are offered to team members, often during business hours.

Minco's customers include many of the nation's largest medical, military, space and telecommunication contractors such as: Guidant, Motorola, Teledyne, Aeroflex, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Systems, CTS Reeves and many others. The Company offers product manufactured by many of the world's leading semiconductor fabricators including Motorola, SGS Thompson, Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor, Harris, Fairchild, IRC and AMD.

Striving for total customer satisfaction is the driving force of every team member in the organization. Meeting cost and performance requirements and delivering products on time is a way of life and not a constant negotiation. This dedication by Minco team members has been exemplified by our obtaining ISO9002 certification in only four short months. This was further illustrated by our receiving the National Small Business Administration "Subcontractor of the Year" award in 1998, Greater Austin Highest Achievement in Quality award in 1993 and the Texas Association of Business & Chamber of Commerce Texas Business of the Year in 1995.

Minco continues to foster innovative new ways to better service our customers. These include EDI communication, documentation and data storage and retrieval on CD ROM and advanced methods for processing semiconductors with reduced cycle time. As a protégé to Texas Instruments, Minco team members received training in cycle time reduction, business process management, statistical process control and six sigma manufacturability. In addition, Hughes Aircraft Corporation conducted a PICOS workshop for process improvement for customer order management. Each of these training programs were developed by either IBM, General Motors, or Motorola.

Our key objective is to deliver products and services that are noticeably better than that of our competition - something we have been doing for the past twenty years.
